Pathological Wrinkles

M1 5.5" Slant Length

4.9" Width

A large upper posterior meg from Georgia.  This tooth was examined by Dr. Gordon Hubble, and deemed to be one of the largest posterior teeth ever found.  The principal teeth would have been over 7 inches.  As far as quality goes, this obviously does not measure up to the "Almost Perfect" standards I typically strive for, but what can I say it was the first tooth I purchased.  However, since this tooth is the reason I started collecting fossil shark's teeth, it's perfect to me.  This tooth for that reason has to be on the "Best of the Best" page.

A gem upper lateral chubutensis from Lee Creek, NC.  This tooth is part of the "Best of the Best" collection as well.  The grayish white root is well preserved with very pronounced protective nubs and multiple visible nutrient holes.  The cream bourlette is 95% complete with only a small section missing near the extreme right side.  The flat side bourlette is 95% as well, showing the excellent preservation of this tooth.  The mottled crown enamel is just phenomenal.  The color patterns show exactly where the hydration swelling occurred.  This swelling/cracking allowed the impurities to stain the enamel different colors compared to the outlining enamel.  The serrations are big and sharp and as close to perfect as you can get.  The tip is sharp as well.  Overall just an "Almost Perfect" specimen.
